About Us

The idea of r.u.kidneyMe started in March 2001. It came about 3 weeks after I underwent a kidney transplant. When I first was made aware of this irreversible kidney failure I felt absolutely alone. I never heard of anyone in my circle of family and friends that had ever undergone such an experience. I wanted to talk with people that knew what I was going through. People that had gone threw it themselves or even people that knew someone that had. So after my successful operation I wanted to create a site where people with Kidney Disease, failure, pre transplant, post transplant could come together; to share experiences and help each other through this obstacle in life.

After having my kidney transplant I realized there was a need for people to communicate and share their experiences and stories. I realized this as I was going through this journey that the more I talked with others the better I felt and the less i felt alone. I felt like was part of a community.
